Knowing Christ personally...Growing in our faith...Going to serve and to share
Welcome to FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH of Glen Rose, Texas.  Whether you are a visitor or part of our church family, we invite you to browse through this web site as a source of information and inspiration.  Should you ever visit in the Glen Rose area, or are planning a move here, we invite you to join us in Bible study and worship.  We would consider it a blessing to meet you and your family.

If asked to identify two or three distinctives of FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, we believe we are to glorify the Lord in everything we do - both inside and outside the church building.  Within the church, the most visible demonstration of honoring the Lord is in our worship of Him.  We believe that God's nature as revealed through scripture is our guide for worship.  God is holy and His worship must be a reflection of Who He is.  While not denying that worship is also to communicate divine truth to the worshippers, we believe our first priority must be to worship the Lord in a manner which is pleasing to Him - meaning our worship is therefore defined by the unchanging nature of God's glory, and not the changing nature of style.  It becomes easier to glorify Him outside of the church when we understand how to glorify Him inside the church.  Worship becomes a lifelong experience and not just something we do on Sunday mornings.

Another characteristic of this congregation is that it full of happy servants and stewards.  We have discovered the liberating joy of knowing we can claim no ownership to the Lord's church or its ministries.  This church is the sole property of the One Who died for it.  No masters or owners here.  Just servants and stewards who desire to be found faithful when our Lord returns to call His Bride home.  Our salvation, the privilege of serving God and others, the joy of seeing people come to Christ - it is all a matter of His doing.  Remember when the people began leaving John the Baptist for Jesus?  John's disciples came to him all worked up, pointing out how people were leaving John's ministry and going "to Him," meaning Jesus. The scripture says, "John answered and said, "A man can receive nothing, unless it has been given him from Heaven...I am not the Christ...He must increase, but I must decrease."  John understood he owned no part of the work entrusted to him from above.  God's Spirit has impressed upon our hearts that same perspective.

You will also find FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH to be a Great Commission church.  Whether equipping members with FAITH Sunday School Evangelism Strategy or preparing to go on a foreign mission trip, this church loves to share the gospel.  We've also discovered one of the keys to having a spiritually healthy congregation is for all of us to be about the Lord's work, beginning in Glen Rose and extending to the uttermost parts of the world.

What a joyous privilege it is to be part of a congregation who desires to glorify the Lord, to serve Him and one another, and to share the gospel with a lost world.  Again, we invite you to join us if you are ever in the area.

Your friend and fellow servant,

Brent Ferren, Pastor

Just for You...
